The Painting: Experimentation this week with this soft hued acrylic of a white Arabian. I may develop it more, I may not, but I am sharing it as it is at this moment. Thin layers of Liquetex Heavy Body Acrylics build on this composition.
The Thought: The word Promise comes to mind this morning. Have you ever broken a promise? If you have not, I would like to meet you. The word trips off of our lips as kids, "I promise not to do it again." Or the words of a distraught young pregnant teen, "But he promised he loved me."
Obviously a promise is of no more value than is the ability of the one who makes it, to actually carry it through. People change their minds and they do break promises. Often people just flat out lie and make promises. Through the Bible we are aware that God has made promises to us. He promises to supply every need we have. (not our wants...our needs). He has promised His grace would be sufficient for us. He promises victory over death as we saw in the resurrection of our Lord Jesus. He has promised all things will work together for the good of those who love and serve Him faithfully. His promises fill the pages of the Bible. He promises the forgiveness of our sins for those who believe in Christ and that they will be saved. He promises eternal life.
I came across a pretty neat place on the web: Olive Branch This author has a nice layout of promises from God to get you through anything. Take a peak, I did this morning and found some encouraging words for my own life. Sometimes it takes a quick reminder to get us back on track in our lives.

'Thirteen Trees' Landscape by Laurie Pace
The Painting: From a workshop tape and experimental at best and harder than you think to work backwards for me. In all my 27 years of teaching of working back to front this one was opposite. The blues and purples actually covered the canvas first. The first layer of those colors is acrylic. Then I put in the sky in light blues leaving the contrast shapes. Next step was to put in color on the trunks. I switched to oils on the sky and trunks and then again on the ground as I laid in the colors of purples and blues.
The Thought: Working backwards. Well the models are put away. I said a prayer reminding God of how He fed the 5000 and asked if we could somehow manage to get the 5000 models into the closet. The collection has grown over the past two years.
I only say working backwards as this is the same closet I unpacked them in 22 months ago when we moved here. Terry packed them up and moved them to another bedroom closet. Then he moved them upstairs to the loft in our bedroom. NOT GOOD. Then he moved them into the garden room. THEN they went back to the bedroom closet. Two days ago I found them in my studio everywhere. So now they are back in the original location, The Hall Closet.
Can anyone explain WHY? One of those where you go around the barn several times before you find the door I guess. Or is it what goes around comes around?
Terry has been over busy with tiling the bathroom. He is on the back wall of the shower right now. More pictures as he finishes. PRAY for him as he is exhausted. He wants to have the bathroom finished by Tuesday.
We are usually facing deadlines and daunting tasks in our lives. Many things we do not want to face or deal with. Others are just things that we have to muddle through to finish. Know HE is with you through each and every trial and there is light at the end of your journey. Each task or event has its unique challenges and requires you to stay the course. Always this seems to task our very existence but in truth strengthens us for the next trial.
One step at a time... you will complete what lies ahead.

The Painting: Yes, it is a new one, and tomorrow there will be a new horse! Yesterday with a migraine painting was not easy. This has so many layers I lost count, but it is Holbein Oils on gallery wrap canvas and ready to hang. I think as an artist I would probably frame this painting, but it would hang without. The composition developed slowly with under layers of horizontal acrylics in quinacridone Orange, burnt umber and white....(yes). Then came horizontal layers applied with a brush in oils. The colors were predominately blues, greens, and a bit of rose madder. From this layer came multiple layers of color with a palette knife. The photo does not do it justice.
The Thought: Yesterday I wrote about not feeling appreciated, but this morning I am in a go go go mode and they thought is more... are there days you wake with energy and know this is a day things will happen for the good in your life? This is your time.
This is your time; this is God's time. No matter what the circumstance at this moment in your life, today is your time. Know as you go forward in the day that God has placed you in this situation to have an impact for Him. He knows where you are.
He has armed you with everything you need for this day, trust in Him and live it to it's fullest.

"The Lord Jesus Christ gave us the definition of a true friend: "Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends. You are my friends if you do what I command. I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master's business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you." TOMORROW
SLOW progress.
I am excited to share that the first posted heart is available on a t-shirt and will post the site as soon as I get it. It is for the American Heart Association for a fundraiser for a team up in Virginia I believe. After the regional or state group saw it, they just wrote and ask me to donate or do something for their fundraiser the 9th of May...hummm, that means do it NOW... so pray for me as I take this cause on.
My father, that has Alzheimers, also had bypass surgery, and later a pacemaker and a defib unit. The cause is close to my heart...pardon the pun.
God Bless,
Laurie

Baby Beagle DOG ART Oil Painting
Terry asked why I was not painting our dogs... I need to take some pictures..they are all black and grey curly fur and you really can't see much. There eyes have a sparkle and their overall cut is distinctive... have to see what I can sketch out. Meanwhile I visited WetCanvas.com and pulled about three photos off that are up posted for artists to use... this little guy was one of them.
Dogs ... they are part of my wonders of the heart!

Mother HeART
Contemporary Heart Art Painting by Laurie Justus Pace
9 x 12 x 2 inches Acrylic on Canvas
SOLD
Contact me about commissions of the heART. Laurie
This heARt wonder was based on the thought of Mother as a life giver. When I think of the earth and life in it's cycles...the green of spring is always the sign of birth as the world wakes from winter. Hence the gorgeous hues of green in the center of this heart...life giving. The exploding from the heart are the colors found in creation...Mothers are "creators" in the image of God. Mothers tend to wear the rose colored glasses always seeing the best in every child... in every situation.
This heArt is sold, but watch for more in this Wonders of the heART series. It will not all be hearts but they will all be wonders.
The will of God will never lead you where the grace of God cannot keep you.

"Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right.
"Honor your father and mother,'' which is the first commandment with promise: "that it may be well with you and you may live long on the earth.''
And you, fathers, do not provoke your children to wrath, but bring them up in the training and admonition of the Lord." (Eph 6.1-4)

Whoever watches the wind will not plant; whoever looks a the clouds will not reap. As you do not know the path of the wind or how the body if formed in a mother's womb, so you cannot understand the work of God, the Maker of all things." Ecclesiastes 11: 3-5
